The White Sands Hotel & Spa is being built just footsteps away from Santa Monica Beach – one of the true wonders of Cape Verde.
Stretching for more than 22km, Santa Monica is on the south west of the Island and attracts the most tourists on Boa Vista. However, due to its sheer vastness, there’s more than enough room to take a long, sunny walk in complete privacy – or, if you fancy something a little bit more exhilarating, you could hire a quad bike and explore Boa Vista’s magnificent dunes that way.
Whatever you decide, you’ll quickly realise that Cape Verde is a beach-lover’s paradise – with the sun beating down right around the calendar, there’s never a time of year that you can’t top up your tan.
Kitesurfing and Windsurfing
For the more adventurous amongst you, Cape Verde is also one of the very best places to enjoy a whole host of thrilling water sports adventures. Chief among them are windsurfing and kitesurfing – both hugely popular sports on the Islands. And with numerous schools and training days, there’s plenty of opportunity for beginners to don a wetsuit, hire a board, and hit the waves.
And when you’ve finished riding the waves you can then dive beneath them. Snorkelling and scuba diving conditions are excellent on the Islands, with many reefs, wrecks and underwater wildlife to get to know.
Wonderful Wildlife Adventures
Speaking of underwater wildlife – have you ever paddled with real-life sharks?
Head over to Shark Bay on the Island of Sal and that’s exactly what you will have the opportunity to do. At 3.5 metres in length and weighing in at 190 kilos, the lemon sharks that prowl the shallow waters of Shark Bay look truly menacing. However, since they pose no threat to humans, it’s entirely possible – if you can hold your nerve – to wade out into the water and paddle with them.
But, if you don’t think you can take that kind of excitement, there’s still plenty of other opportunities to get up close and personal with the wonderful sea life that makes its home in Cape Verde. Humpback whale watching and dolphin watching tours are available – from the safety of a boat – while on the shores of Boa Vista you can watch baby turtles hatch and scramble down the beach to the splashing waves beneath the moonlight.
Music Festivals Galore
No matter what time of year it is, there always seems to be some sort of festival taking place in Cape Verde. Be they religious celebrations, carnivals, or lively musical events, the sounds are beautiful, spirits are high, and much dancing and singing is enjoyed by all.
Join in with the Mindelo Carnival, the Kriol Jazz Festival, or the Sal International Music Festival – to name just three – and you’ll soon see the true spirit of Cape Verde in all its colourful and cultured glory, and we can guarantee that you’ll soon be wanting more.
Cape Verde – Where the Whole World Wants to Visit
It’s no surprise that Cape Verde is now the second most searched for spot on Earth. The country is truly enchanting, which is why tourism numbers continue to grow with each year that ticks by.
There really is no end of sights to see, landscapes and seascapes to explore, and adventures to be had in Cape Verde – and with your five weeks’ personal usage every year, you can make your investment brim with as many lifestyle rewards as it does with financial ones.
